The Post-High School Strategy Session is a focused one-on-one planning session designed for students who already have a few ideas and want help narrowing things down. This is often a good fit for students who:
• Have 2–3 colleges in mind but want help determining best fit
• Are deciding between a few majors or career paths
• Want to talk through next steps, options, or concerns

The College Major & Career Exploration Package includes the Strong Interest Inventory®, which is a research-backed assessment designed for students who want deeper career and major exploration or feel more unsure about direction overall.

The Strong helps students better understand patterns in their interests, preferences, and potential work environments. As certified practitioners, we help students interpret and apply the results to real-world majors, careers, and post-high school pathways — whether that’s a four-year degree, trade or technical program, or another direction entirely.

The Strong Interest Inventory® and the MBTI® (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) provide different types of insight and are used based on the student’s goals, questions, and areas of exploration.

The Strong Interest Inventory® focuses on interests — helping students explore what types of careers, subjects, activities, and work environments they may enjoy or feel drawn toward.

The MBTI® focuses more on personality preferences and how students take in information, make decisions, communicate, approach structure, and interact with the world around them.

We all know two people in the same career field who are completely different from each other. Two students may both be interested in healthcare, business, or engineering, but thrive in very different roles or environments within those fields. The way people communicate, take in information, make decisions, and approach structure can shape the kinds of work they enjoy most. The MBTI® helps students better understand those differences and how they may impact future fit.

These tools can provide deeper insight into career exploration, college fit, decision-making patterns, motivation, work style, and future planning. Neither assessment is designed to tell students what they “should” do, but rather provide language, insight, and direction to support more informed and personalized decisions.

Depending on the student’s goals and areas of exploration, some families choose to incorporate both assessments as part of a more comprehensive planning process. Students may choose one or both assessments depending on their individual needs and future planning goals.

School counselors are incredibly valuable resources and often play an important role in helping students navigate academics, scheduling, college applications, and post-high school planning. However, many school counseling departments are managing very large student caseloads, which can naturally limit the amount of time available for in-depth career and major exploration with each student.

Some schools may offer career assessments or basic interest surveys, and some schools do provide tools like the Strong Interest Inventory® or MBTI®. However, these assessments are not commonly offered within most school settings because they require additional certification, training, licensing costs, and individualized time to administer, interpret, and discuss results meaningfully.

Our work is designed to provide a more personalized and in-depth process. As certified practitioners, we do more than simply provide scores or reports. We help students interpret patterns, explore majors and career paths, understand personality and work style differences, discuss college and career fit, and connect results to real-world next steps and future planning.

The goal is not just to hand students a list of careers — it is to help them better understand themselves and feel more confident navigating future decisions.

The Strong Interest Inventory® and MBTI® results are meant to be a starting point — not just a report or list of scores. We sit down together to interpret what the results may mean for your student and connect those insights to college majors, career paths, work environments, personality style, decision-making, and future planning.

Our goal is not to place students into one specific path, but to help them better understand themselves, recognize patterns, explore possibilities, and build confidence around future decisions. We also help students connect the results to real-world next steps, whether that’s exploring majors, researching colleges or trade programs, job shadowing, gaining experience, or narrowing down future options.

The process is designed to create conversation, insight, and direction — not pressure to have everything figured out immediately.

No. We do not believe there is only one “perfect” major or career path for any student, and we never tell families, “Your student should be one thing and that’s it.”

Students grow, interests evolve, and industries continue to change. New careers emerge every year, while technology, workforce needs, and economic shifts continue reshaping the job market. Instead of focusing on finding one exact match, we help students identify strong-fit options that align with their strengths, interests, values, and long-term goals.

We also emphasize transferable skills — things like communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, adaptability, and emotional intelligence — because those skills often matter just as much as the specific major listed on a diploma. Many students will eventually work in roles that do not even exist yet or may change directions multiple times throughout adulthood.

Our goal is not to lock students into one path. It is to help them build self-awareness, confidence, decision-making skills, and a flexible foundation for whatever opportunities and changes the future may bring.
